A big thank you to everyone that visited during the two weekends. The weather was great, the sun shone and it finally felt like summer with lots of visitors taking the opportunity to enjoy a cuppa and cake in the garden. We are donating all the proceeds form tea and cake sales to the Himalayan Cataract Project that delivers cataract care to needlessly blind people in the developing world. In Nepal, cataracts represent 70% of unnecessary blindness, one of the highest rates of cataract blindness in the world.
The charity sets up clinics in remote villages. It’s a simple five minute procedure costing £30 that can be a life changer for people in remote mountain villages enabling them to negotiate the precipitous mountain paths to visit local markets and friends.
As always it’s great to meet everyone and hear what they have to say, good and bad about our work.
