The Tulip

A little more abstract than some of my other sculptures, but still with the strong, graphical, curvaceous lines that I love so much.

The sculpture also differs from much of my other work having a greater depth making it a little more three dimensional, especially when edged with a different, contrasting material to the faces.

The sculpture is created from a mix of materials using corten steel for the two faces with a contrasting mirror polished stainless steel outer edge and a brushed stainless steel inner edge, giving an added sense of drama and depth.

• Height of current piece 210cm
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Materials for current piece,
 – front / back faces corten steel, rusted patina,
 – outer edge mirror polished stainless steel
   inner edge brushed stainless steel
• Can be made from a different mix of materials
• A number of base and plinth options
• This is a bespoke piece and built to order

Braganca

A simple elegant contemporary piece of garden sculpture with the long flowing curves that are a trademark of Simon`s designs. The piece is named after a beautiful small town in northern Portugal where Simon first sketched the idea for the piece whilst on holiday.

The sculpture takes on a different look through the day as the sun moves round casting it’s shadow in different directon’s.

• Height of current piece 210cm
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Material, current piece rusted steel
• Can be made in a variety of materials,
– eg all stainless steel with brushed or mirror finish

Optical

Contemporary sculptures, a garden sculpture created from stainless steel with a mirror finish

Whilst studying graphics at art college I was set many projects to design and draw optical patterns. This was before the age of computers with artwork having to be hand drawn. The optical patterns were a good way of refining the skills required to create artwork that was ready for print.

Since then I’ve always had an interest in optical patterns, loving the work of Bridget Riley and always wanted to create a sculpture design that was based on an optical pattern.

Over the winter of 2023 / 24 I finally got round to it, and created the design in mirror polished stainless steel, although it can be made from any material.

• Size of current piece, H 90cm, W 90cm
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Material, current piece, stainless steel, mirror finish
• Can be made in a variety of materials,
Stainless Steel, brushed or mirror finish

Samarkand

Inspired by the stunning mosaics in Samarkand, an ancient city on the Silk Road in Uzbekistan.

Simon became aware of Samarkand whilst on holiday in Estonia. Finding an old soviet era book on ancient buildings of the Persian influenced areas of the former Soviet Union. Couldn’t read a word but the photos amazed him, not knowing anything like it existed in this part of the world.

The photos sparked an interest in the mosaic patterns of Persia, being very structured in layout they appealed to his graphics background where everything is structured to line up on a grid.

The sculpture consists of two interlocking pieces to form a self supporting cross shape. The first piece has been created form thick 10mm steel to give to substance and is being allowed to rust naturally forming a richly coloured patina

• Height of current piece 190cm
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Material, current piece 10mm rusted steel
• Can be made in a variety of materials
• Lighting can be included in the base
• This is a bespoke piece and built to order

A Flight of Avocets

A spectacular contemporary garden sculpture, giving the appearance of the Avocet soaring through the skies.

Standing at just over two meters tall the design was inspired by a bird that I made many years ago in a woodwork class at school which still sits proudly on my Mum’s mantle-piece above the fire.

The mirror polished stainless steel birds are mounted atop an oak post / Skylon, inspired by the huge Skylon that made such a dramatic sight on the South Bank, London at the 1951 Festival of Britain, its something that’s fascinated me since I was young.

It’s a bespoke sculpture with the Avocet available in a range of materials & surface finishes along with three designs of Oak post.

Current Piece
• Birds, mirror polished stainless steel
• Oak Skylon design posts Height 200cm

Contemporary Deer Sculptures

A more contemporary version of our original
deer sculptures. Simon design was inspired by a white horse carved into the chalk hillside near Pewsey, Wiltshire that he passes on the way to collect laser cut profiles from a company based in the nearby village.

The shape has been simplified even more, whilst still retaining some of the features of his original deer designs.

The deer are mounted on a thick hardwood base and can be placed indoors or out. The hardwood base has been treated with an exterior oil to preserve and enhance the wood.

• Suitable for indoor or outdoor display
• Height of current piece 115cm & 85cm
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Material, current piece 10mm rusted steel
• Can be made in a variety of materials
• Base, Sapele a hardwood to Mahogany
• This is a bespoke piece and built to order

Metal leaf sculpture for the garden made from rusted metal

Leaf Sculpture

Larger than life metal leaf sculptures based on the Sycamore and Lime leaf

From the start the intention for these designs was not to deviate too far from the real thing. Paring back the designs to the bare minimum created simple graphical designs that are still instantly recognisable as the Sycamore and Lime leaf.

To make a dramatic statement the leaves could be placed in a lawn, or for a more subtle installation, placed among planting. One idea that could look particularly effective would be to place several leaves of differing sizes among planting.

• Height of current piece 130cm
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Variety of sizes could be used in same installation
• Material, current piece 6mm rusted steel
• Can be made in a variety of materials,
• This is a bespoke piece and built to order

Khiva

A contemporary garden sculpture, Khiva is Simon’s latest design that he’s been dabbling with for over a year.

It’s a design that differs from much of his other work featuring a pattern that is more random. His designs are usually quite structured in layout which is probably why this sculpture took him so long to create.

The sculpture lends itself to being scaled up or down and would look great in wide a variety of materials hovering just above the ground, higher up in the air or mounted on a wooden base.

• Circle diameter of current piece 90cm
• Height of mounting tube can be adjusted to suit
• Sizes can be scaled up or down
• Material, current piece 6mm rusted steel
• Can be made in a variety of materials,
– eg all stainless steel with brushed or mirror finish
• Looks good hovering just above the ground, in the air or mounted on wood base or plinth
• This is a bespoke piece and built to order
