Exhibitions Diary 2020

During these uncertain times some of the early exhibitions have been moved to dates later in the year. I’m afraid our local Chichester Art Trail was cancelled but hopefully by the summer we will be though the worst and life will gradually return to normal.

Although I make a special effort for the Art Trail I do always have a range of my work on display at our workshops near Chichester, West Sussex and you would be welcome to come and have a look. If you could drop me a note or give me a ring first just to make sure I’m about that would be great.

Art for Cure was originally designed to be a one-off event. After the hugely successful events in 2016 and 2018, which both raised six figure sums, the organisers Belinda Gray and Sally Ball have decided to do it again in 2020 and hope to raise an even larger sum for their chosen charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We are really pleased to have been invited back to such a prestigious event.  There will be over 100 artists and sculptors exhibiting in the magnificent house and grounds of Glemham Hall in Suffolk. Works will be a specially curated selection of nationally renowned artists.

Like many events I’m afraid the exhibition has been cancelled, BUT instead the organisers have burnt the midnight oil to set up a virtual exhibition @ www.artforcure.org  where you can view and buy the works that were to be exhibited on-line.

Fingers crossed, the event is a raging success and they can surpass the sum raised at 2016’s event

Five days in May, a delightful art trail encompassing some of West Sussex’s most beautiful villages, it’s an opportunity to explore some of the more interesting byways and villages that network through this beautiful corner of West Sussex.

It’s our fith year on the trail and we will be showing a range of our garden sculpture and garden art including our Deer sculptures and swathes of Cow Parsley seedheads swaying in the wind that were so popular last year. I’m currently working on a couple of new pieces that are still on the drawing board but I’m hoping to have ready and we will also be showing some more bespoke pieces that aren’t currently on the website.

Exhibited in a garden setting with great views to the South Downs, why not come for a look around, a sit down and a cuppa and cake. The perfect day out !

Sculpture in a Landscape 1969 – 2020 at West Leaze

The exhibition is being held at a very special location with a remarkable history in the 1930’s beautiful modernist architect designed weekend home high on the Marlborough downs for prominent Labour politicians Ruth and Hugh Dalton.

Now under different ownership the 6 acre garden is to be used for the 2020 event, a bi-anual show organised by Friends of the Garden, a voluntary organisation managed by volunteers whom share a love of contemporary sculpture. They have decided on a retrospective and have invited over forty artists from previous shows and I am delighted to have been asked to return having first exhibited with them in 2016.

I will be exhibiting two of my contemporary sculpture designs, Braganca and a Flight of Avocets. I’m lucky to have been given a great spot to install both pieces with farmland and the beautifull Marlborough Downs as a Backdrop.

Really looking forward to this one, should be some great work in a stunning location.

Please note that tickets need to be booked in advance through the Exhibitions Website

Garden Art and Sculpture exhibiting at Sussex Prairie Gardens

Sussex Prairie Gardens

The gardens are stunning, well worth a visit.

Sculpture is an integral part of the gardens and has been sympathetically installed to further enhance the naturalistic planting. The gardens near Henfield, West Sussex were created by Pauline and Paul McBride. Surrounded by mature oaks, the six acre garden has a series of arched borders with impressive drifts of plants in soft muted colors which contrasts leaf forms, stems, stalks, flower shapes and textures. The borders encourage exploration and adventure and visitors are welcome to roam along tiny paths in amongst the mighty plants and sculptures to further enjoy the experience.

We will be installing our Cow Parsley, Wild Clematis, Avocet and Sheep sculptures with the swathes of swaying grasses forming the perfect backdrop for our sculptures. Can’t wait to see them on a summers afternoon with the warm hues of the rusted finish glowing in the sun.

The Unusual Plant Fair
The Unusual Plant Fair on Sunday 6th September is a great event with stalls set up around the gardens. It’s a chance to by that unusual plant from one of the stalls or one of your favourites from the garden that are available from the gardens own shop. As well as plant stalls, there are a number of artists stalls displaying a range of work to compliment the planting in your garden. The Fair opens at 11am and is well worth a trip.

Address – Morlands Farm, Wheatsheaf Road, Henfield, West Sussex, England, BN5 9AT
